GGAF Alliances

Helping Our Troops

The Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund, and its leadership of players and coaches, have given their support to the brave men and women of our armed forces, through an alliance with the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.  In 2008, led by Mike Ditka, the GGAF and its players and coaches began and will continue to make regular visits to support the awareness of the SOWF.

For more than 28 years, the SOWF has provided college scholarship grants (not loans) to surviving children of Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps special operations personnel killed in combat or training missions.  The SOWF also provides immediate financial assistance to special operations personnel severely wounded in combat.SOWF provides funds for tuition, books, fees, room and board. For additional information visit the SOWF website at www.specialops.org

“Gridiron Guardian Sunday” Program

Spearheaded in 2007 by NFL star lineman Kyle Turley, the GGAF “Gridiron Guardian Sunday” program encourages active NFL players to donate a portion of their game check on one Sunday game to the Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund.  Plans are underway to do a similar program during a designated Sunday during the 2009 NFL season to raise monies for the GGAF cause from active NFL players, and raise awareness during the spotlight of the NFL regular season.

Operation Helping Hand (OpHH) was formed in the spring of 2004 to provide assistance and support for the families of the active duty wounded and injured. Gridiron Greats have given their support to help raise funds for this great initiative. www.operationhelpinghandtampa.com
