WHAT THEY ARE SAYING
Although I do not personally believe it is up to the general public to offer financial support, as a fan of football beginning with Lombardi's Packers I feel I must speak out in support of all that you are undertaking on behalf of many NFL retirees. In my opinion, the NFL has failed you, but most importantly your own union has failed you. Each and every player in the league owes the veterans who laid the groundwork for the financial success of the game today. YOUR UNION NEEDS TO REPRESENT YOU BEYOND YOUR ACTIVE PLAYING CAREERS. Gene Upshaw should step down if he does not feel this way. Each and every athlete currently playing should be made to realize that he is one play or game away from suffering the same indignities and debilitating injuries that affect veterans today.
Good luck and God Bless your efforts.

I guess if you really want to make a statement, then it time to stand up and make the NLF take notice. Seems the only think people listen to is a Boycott. Ask the people to support you by boycotting things that sponsor the NFL. For my part, it seems that Bud the the Beer of the NFL, so until you get what you should have already had, I will not buy Bud, and will instead buy only Miller Beer.

I am appalled at the medical and financial treatment that former NFL players receive. I was nearly in tears reading an recent magazine article on disabled former players. I idolized Willie Wood growing up and to read he is in an assisted care facility really sent me over the edge. This is a great injustice that must be fixed.

Since everyone of the athletes playing today owes their lucrative salaries to those that played before them, why don't they take care of their own? 10% of every paycheck, should go to this fund. The amount of wealth in sports is obscene, and eventually athletes will get the message and understand their responsibility. Some day, some player's association will guilt the spoiled children into some measure of responsibility.

I'm very much in support of this organization, and while I'm just a student, I hope you all get what you deserve. You made the game what it is today, and are not being taken care of appropriately. My father came to America in the 70s and growing up taught us a history of the game and the greats from even before his time, so there are people who realize what you all have done. I guess my major concern is why no(or few) current players are speaking up. I feel that the young players should stand up and donate even 2% of their income to the Gridiron Greats regardless of what the NFLPA does. Even if just a few of the big name guys were to commit, it would make the others feel that responsibility too. After all, they are getting paid tens of millions of dollars - they should give back to those who made it
possible. Again, my best wishes, and hope all of you get what you truly deserve.
I think it's great what you guys are doing. There are many players that give their heart and soul to entertain fans week in and week out to have the very league they did all this for turn its back on them. Kudos to Daryl "Moose" Johnston for taking up with this great cause. I am a life long Cowboys fan and a fan of the game in general. Thanks for looking out for the disabled players.

Great idea, wish you luck.

I read the long article in Mens Journal and visited your web site. I am absolutely appalled at what is going on and have written to the NFLPA (below). Thanks to your mission and the publicity from this article I hope that something changes quickly. I have also just made a donation through your website. God bless the
Demarco's and all other former players in need.
