The NFLPA has embarked on a public relations campaign to discredit the disability claims made by some of the disabled players who are seeking their appropriate disability support from the NFLPA. The NFLPA has launched a public web based campaign to take issue with the many men that have been hurting for so long due to injuries received while playing the game they love and one that has brought so much enjoyment to fans.

Many disabled players that the Gridiron Greats currently provides financial aid and social services to have been targeted in this public campaign by the NFLPA which they call the "Truth Squad."  In their campaign, which is targeted at the media and fans, they outline why specific retired players who are disabled, crippled and/or mentally impaired should not receive the disability they so desperately need. Additionally, they have created a public document called “The White Pages” which details the personal claims of specific players and why they were denied. Many players included in this documnet say that many facts of their stories have been purposely omitted. The Gridiron Greats has launched a new section of our web site “IN THEIR OWN WORDS” where disabled players share the truth of their personal stories and experiences with NFLPA. We invite you to take some time to read their comments and stories, then email us and tell us what you think.

The NFLPA has also hired Lanny Davis, an attorney who had been retained by NFLPA to advise on media coverage related to retired players. Davis was a special counsel to President Clinton between 1996 and 1998 who helped Clinton with the Monica Lewinsky sex scandal. He will now advise the union on handling media as it relates to disabled players seeking help from the union. tell us what you think
