LARRY MORRIS

Chicago Bears

Former Chicago Bear Larry Morris enjoyed a successful career. He was named to the NFL 1960s All Decade Team and was the most valuable player of the Chicago Bears 1963 championship game. Larry now suffers from advanced dementia. He can no longer care for himself. His wife of fifty years spends all of her time caring for him; Larry requires full time around the clock care. She calls him her two year old teenager. He is just one of many retired players who require advanced and extremely expensive medical care and does not receive adequate aid or support from the league.  His wife Kay spends her days caring for Larry at home; his physical condition has no doubt taxed the family's resources and impacted Kay's ability to work. The family lives month to month and has exhausted their financial resources already going through more than $200,000 of the family's savings for his care. The Gridiron Greats Assistance Fund is a nonprofit corporation that has been established to provide financial assistance and support services to those retired players like Larry who are in dire need due to the inadequate support provided to NFL retired players. Larry and Kay's situation is just one example of  why there is a need for such a fund. Please support our efforts by making a donation.
